Center for Mobile Communication Studies

The rapid expansion and integration of mobile communication into all aspects of human life has spawned a fascinating new branch of social science. The Center for Mobile Communication Studies (CMCS) was the first academic center to focus on the social dimensions of this revolution when it opened its doors in 2004. Under the direction of Professor James E. Katz, the center has developed from its beginnings at Rutgers University to its current location at Boston University College of Communication. It is now a focal point for research, education, collaboration, and service in understanding the social, psychological, and organizational ramifications of mobile communication at BU and around the world.
